Article Settings

This article relates to a legacy version of Sitemason. If you are looking for the Sitemason 6 version of this article, please visit here.

Once you've created an article, there are tons of options and settings which make the News tool extremely flexible and powerful.

In the Details tab, you can give an article a URL (like if linking to an outside site), enter the author information, and add New or Updated icons as well as mark the article Important or Lead Article.

You can upload media files to your article as well as article icons, or a distinguishing image/video.  The Picture tab allows you to upload, crop, edit and post all right in the article window! If you want to post a video, you can do the same in the Audio/Video tab, with the addition of being able to add videos directly from the web.  For example, simply inserting a Youtube video's URL into the "From the Web" field, Sitemason will automatically play the Youtube video right in your article, without having to mess with any embed code.

The Schedule & Access tab is important for managing the publish, archive and expiration dates of your article.  This allows you to draft an article and set it to publish some time in the future (perfect for press releases!) as well as set when it should be sent to archive or removed from the website all together.

You can also set the publication status to Pending so you can continue working on the article as a draft after you've saved it to Sitemason.
